Recently, China Banking Association commended the award-winning institutions and individuals in the 2017 China Banking Industry Social Responsibility Work Evaluation, and Agricultural Development Bank of China (ADBC) won the “Most Socially Responsible Financial Institution Award”.

In 2017, ADBC thoroughly studied and implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, earnestly implemented the decisions and deployments of the State Council, adhered to the general work guideline of making progress while maintaining stability, and comprehensively practiced new development concepts. The bank focused on key sectors and weak links of “agriculture, rural areas and farmers” as well as poverty-stricken areas, provided financial assistance for the purchase and reserve of grain, cotton and edible oil, and effectively safeguarded national food security and the interests of the farmers. The bank made full efforts in serving poverty elimination in a targeted approach, with special emphasis on places in deep poverty such as “three districts and three prefectures”. The bank supported major livelihood projects such as renovation of the shanty towns and water conservancy projects, and promoted the construction of rural infrastructure and agricultural modernization. ADBC played a strategic role in the implementation of rural revitalization strategy and made new contributions to securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. In 2017, the bank disbursed loans with a total value of RMB1.56 trillion and targeted poverty alleviation loans with a total value of RMB512 billion. In the last three years, a total of RMB5.9 trillion has been provided by the bank to support the development of agriculture. Poverty alleviation relocation projects have benefited 5.24 million poverty-stricken population and helped 9.06 million people improve their living conditions. The achievements of ADBC were highly recognized by the society and the bank won the award for Best Bank in Poverty Alleviation for two consecutive years and 200 other awards as well.  

The 2017 China Banking Industry Social Responsibility Work Evaluation was organized by China Banking Association, which aimed at selecting and commending financial institutions and individuals on their contributions to assisting real economy, preventing financial risks, deepening financial reforms, supporting poverty elimination, serving “agriculture, rural areas and farmers”, encouraging small and micro businesses, and promoting green development. It also helped to improve the social responsibility management in the industry and showcase the industry’s commitment to fulfilling social responsibilities. China Banking Association invited social responsibility management experts in and outside the industry to review the awards. Altogether 71 awards in 7 categories were produced after a procedure of self-evaluation and application, qualification examination, preliminary assessment of data, expert review, deliberation and approval etc. Over 50 banking financial institutions and their branches as well as 15 individuals were awarded.
